Currently the workshop is very busy with a 15,5m Coasguard vessel for the Auckland Coastguard and two Roger Hill designed displacement powercats. Minicats and trailerable powercats are also continuously under construction.
Kingfishercat 1200 Displacement Cat
The third of this model has now been launched and the fourth under contruction. This new design by Roger Hill features a displacement hull with remarkable speed and fuel economy and smoothness of ride. IMGA0819
Consider these figures – The power option of 2 x 170 hp or 2 x 190 hp motors through a straight shaft driveline give a predicted speed of approximately 25 to 27 knots at about 2.5 litre per nm fuel burn.
At 15 knots fuel burn is about 1.5 litres per nm. For a lazy cruise at 8 knots, a mere 0.8 litres per nm can be expected! This third vessel is powered by 6 cylinder Hyundais of 270hp and the fourth a pair of Iveco FPT 230hp. The interior features double berths forward to port and a single to starboard in hull under saloon.
At any time we have trailer boats under construction. These are now predominately minicats and the smaller powercats.
15.5m Naiad Coastguard vessel
Twin 700hp Scania diesels and remote vee drives will power this new vessel for Auckland Coastguard. Designed to spend continuous time at sea in the Hauraki Gulf, this vessel will offer great crew comfort and easy handling. It will feature D shaped inflated bags, underfloor tender stowage and generous wheelhouse space.
